Translation
While lamenting for those who cannot be lamented on and those who do not deserve to be lamented on, you do not speak like a wise man! The learned do not lament for those who have departed life and those who have not departed life.

The Yoga of Knowledge
॥ Sanskrit Text ॥
śhrī bhagavān uvācha aśhochyān-anvaśhochas-tvaṁ prajñā-vādānśh cha bhāṣhase gatāsūn-agatāsūnśh-cha nānuśhochanti paṇḍitāḥ
While lamenting for those who cannot be lamented on and those who do not deserve to be lamented on, you do not speak like a wise man! The learned do not lament for those who have departed life and those who have not departed life.
।।2.11।। श्रीभगवान् बोले - तुमने शोक न करनेयोग्यका शोक किया है और पण्डिताईकी बातें कह रहे हो; परन्तु जिनके प्राण चले गये हैं, उनके लिये और जिनके प्राण नहीं गये हैं, उनके लिये पण्डितलोग शोक नहीं करते।
